Brazoria County Historical Museum

The Brazoria County Historical Museum exists to discover, preserve, and make known the history of Brazoria County. Located in Brazoria County's historic 1897 courthouse, the Museum collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts that relate the history of and which reflect the County's cultural and demographic diversity. Stephen F. Austin

A giant statue stands as a tribute to the father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin. The 60-foot replica of Stephen F. Austin stands on a 12- foot base in the ten-acre, Henry William Munson Park located on Hwy 288 just south of Stephen F. Austin Highway (Hwy. 35) in Angleton. Plantations

Angleton is close in proximity to five local area Plantations. Each Plantation is unique in its story and all are worth a visit.

Varner Hogg Plantation is located at 1702 North 17th Street in West Columbia. Contact number is 979-345-4656. The Abner Jackson Plantation site is settled in Lake Jackson and still available for tours. The Levi Jordan Plantation is located on FM 521, about 1/2 mile west of FM 524 in Brazoria. Peach Point WMA is located west of Freeport near Jones Creek in Brazoria County. Peach Point is located within a league of land deeded to Stephen F. Austin by the Mexican government in 1830, once known as Peach Point Plantation. For more information call 979-244-6804. East Columbia, on the Brazos River nine miles west of Angleton in west central Brazoria County is home to several historic homes.

Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge

A freshwater slough winds through salt marshes. Brazoria NWR has a key location on the Texas Gulf which helps draw one of the highest Audubon Christmas bird counts in the nation - more than 200 species. In the winter time you can expect to see snow geese, Canada geese, teal, gadwall, and mottled ducks. Summertime brings ten species of herons and egrets, white ibis, roseate spoonbill, mottled duck, clapper rail, horned lark, black skimmer, and scissor-tailed flycatcher. Hudson Woods National Wildlife Refuge

Hudson Woods, located five miles west of Angleton (just off 521 on Sally Lake Rd.) contains a beautiful bottomland forest. Along with a picturesque oxbow lake, the unit is a good example of the once extensive bottomland forest which extended across the Brazos and San Bernard River floodplains. Whether you are a birder or just want to experience the solitude of this wonderful woodland, don’t miss Hudson Woods.

Coastal Clay-Arts Co-op

Coastal Clay-Arts Co-op is an Art Gallery &Design studio located in Downtown Angleton. The studio is open on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If the sign says open, come on in.
